 John F. Wallen

Lifelong Alaska resident John F. Wallin, 74, died April 27, 1999, at Alaska Native Medical Center after a long illness.

There are no public services planned at this time.

Mr. Wallin was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Chignik. A retired commercial fisherman, he had lived in Chignik, Anchorage and Kodiak.

He was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church in Kodiak and enjoyed playing bingo and taking rides in the country.

His family remembers, "John was greatly loved by many relatives and friends. He was considerate and generous to all. His family will miss him greatly. He had a warm smile and a friendly hello for everybody."

Mr. Wallin is survived by his wife, Margaret Wallin of Anchorage; brother, Ivar A. Wallin of Kodiak; sisters, Minnie Basler of California and Tina Carlson of Chignik; nephew, Alvin A. Wallin; niece, Eleanor King; and stepson, Joey Barney.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Alaska Cremation Center.
