Morris L. Talifson

Morris L. Talifson, 90, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at the Teton County Nursing Home in Choteau, Mont.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Gordor Funeral Home Chapel in Choteau. The Rev. Jerry Olson, of Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Choteau Cemetery under the direction of Gorder Funeral Homes.

Mr. Talifson was born Aug. 5, 1909, in Bynum, Mont., the son of George and Minnie (Knudson) Talifson. He left the area in the late 1930s to move to Alaska to be a miner. He then worked for the Alaska Fish and Game Service. He also worked for the cannery from 1942 to 1945. In 1945 he became an outfitter and guide, which he continued doing until 1991, when he retired. He moved back to Choteau in 1993.

He is survived by two sisters: Clara Thompson, of Spokane, Wash., and Agnes Bradley, of Choteau, four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Allen, Milton, Joe, Alfred and Orville; and two sisters: Mildred Pihl and Mable Hayes.

Memorial contributions may be made to Teton County Nursing Home or the Skyline Lodge, both in Choteau, Mont.
