Lawrence Fredrick Staats

North Kenai resident Lawrence Fredrick Staats died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at his home. He was 48.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna.

Mr. Staats was born Sept. 19, 1954, in Pasco, Wash. He was educated through high school. He moved to Alaska 17 years ago. He worked for Unocal and also was a tai chi instructor at Kenai Peninsula College.

"His qualities were numerous. He was a gentle, honest and generous man," his family said.

Mr. Staats is survived by his mother and father, Jeri and W.R. Staats; and brothers, Steve and Stanley Staats.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
