Eric Leonard Rounds

Former Nikiski resident Eric Leonard Rounds died Friday, April 2, 2010 in Tigard, Ore. He was 63.

Visitation will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. Funeral services and burial will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the McGahan Cemetery and adjacent North Kenai Chapel.

Mr. Rounds was born on October 4, 1946 in Anchorage to Dean Leonard and Mary Doore Rounds.

He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a military translator, fisherman and ship captain.

"Eric loved his family, nature, and exploration. He enjoyed conversation and debate. He was a lifelong learner, educating himself on any topic that struck his interest. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him," his family said.

Mr. Rounds was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Daniel Snow Rounds, Stephen Orman Rounds and Peter Seth Rounds.

He is survived by his son Kelsey Evan Rounds of Seattle; daughter, Katrina Marie Rounds or Tigard, Ore.; and son, Samuel Doore Rounds os Spokane, Wash.
