Vance Reynolds

Vance Reynolds dead at age 72 in Oklahoma

YUKON, Oklahoma-Graveside services will be held tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 22) in Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada, Oklahoma for Vance Reynolds, a former resident of Downey for 35 years and a former Downey Police Sergeant.

He was 72, born Oct. 7, 1925 near Enid, Mississippi, and died Tuesday, Aug. 18 in Oklahoma City.

He moved from Downey to Yukon, Oklahoma 10 years ago. He worked as a Territorial Alaska Highway Patrolman for five years before coming to Downey.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Oklahoma City 5th Ward, chapter 157 of the Royal Arch Masons of Downey, and was a Shriner and a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.

He received a B.S. in public health from the University of Oklahoma in 1950.

Survivors include his sister, Eva Joan Summers of Anchorage, Alaska; nephews Larry Summer of Yukon, and Martin Summers of Houston, Alaska; a niece, Vanessa Summers of Anchorage, Alaska; great-nieces Caylor Summers of Yukon, Candice and Jessica Summers of Anchorage; and great-nephew Martin Summers of Anchorage.

Arrangements are by the Smith & Turner Mortuary of Yukon, Oklahoma.
