Verona Marie Ragland

Anchor Point resident Verona Marie Ragland died Wednesday, March 9, 2000, at South Peninsula General Hospital in Homer. She was 81.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Anchor Point Church of Christ. Pastor Steve Byrne will officiate. Burial will be at the Anchor Point Cemetery.

Mrs. Ragland was born March 31, 1917, in Aurora, S.D., where she graduated from high school, continued her education and became a registered nurse. She served for two years in the U.S. Air Force. She worked at several hospitals in Washington state, including Children's Memorial Hospital and Northwest Hospital, both in Seattle. She also worked at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Calif. She retired from the medical field in the early 1970s.

Mrs. Ragland and her husband, Willis, moved to Anchor Point in January 1998. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, Wash.

Mrs. Ragland is survived by Willis, her husband of 58 years, of Anchor Point; sons Richard of Anchor Point and Bill of Waynesboro, Va.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Floral arrangements will be accepted at the Anchor Point Church of Christ prior to services.

Arrangements were made by Homer Funeral Home.
