Robert Michael Pippel


Graveside services for Robert M. Pippel, 36, will begin at the Palmer City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Palmer Elks Lodge No. 1842 will officiate.  Mr. Pippel died Oct. 9 in an automobile accident.

Born March 26, 1951, in Palmer, he had lived his entire life in Alaska. He attended local schools and Alaska Methodist University. He attended the University of Oregon at Eugene.  For many years he worked as an insurance agent in the family business, the Pippel Insurance Co.  Mr. Pippel was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge and the Jaycees. He served on the Palmer City Council and recently had been reelected.  He enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, hunting, photography and was a private pilot. Music was his primary hobby and he performed for many years with local bands.

He leaves his parents, Bob and Kay Pippel of Palmer; two brothers, Tony, of Palmer, and Bill of Santa Cruz, Calif.; his grandmother, Melva Pippel of Palmer; and other relatives in California and Illinois.  Friends will gather from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Palmer Elks Lodge. All his friends and friends of the family are invited.
