Fortunata Silva Lumba

Long-time Juneau resident Fortunata Silva Lumba died Saturday, May 9, 1998, in Juneau. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and Wednesday at Alaska Mortuary and Memorial Park. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at St. Paul's Church.

Lumba was born on Oct. 16, 1916, in Leyte, Philippines. She reunited with her family in Juneau in January 1981. Lumba farmed in her early years and according to her family, was a warm-hearted and loving mother who loved the outdoors.

Lumba is survived by her husband, Isabelo Lumba of Juneau; sons Dionisio (Soledad) Lumba, Jose (Concepcion) Lumba, Delfin (Evelyn) Lumba, Demetrio (Marilou) Lumba, Dominador (Violeta) Lumba of Juneau, and Salvador (Rosalie) Lumba of Anchorage; daughters Josefina (Pedro) Monta, and Delia (Jim) Ruiz of Juneau; sisters-in-law Celes Untalasco of Juneau, and Rosie Floresca of Tenakee Springs; brother-in-law Camdido Lumba Sr. of Juneau; and 32 grandchildren.
