Nils Landin

Long-time Juneau resident Nils Landin died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Bartlett Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the ANB Hall. A grave site service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 15, at Alaska Memorial Park.

Landin was born on Aug. 18, 1936, in Hoonah to Sophie White Landin, daughter of Archie and Annie White. He was of the Thunderbird clan. Landin lived in Juneau for the last 23 years and worked at Fred Meyer prior to his long fight with cancer.

Landin is survived by his children Nils Charles Landin of Indiana, Ann Marie Evenson of Minnesota, Nils ``Ben'' Landin III and Elena Landin of North Dakota; grandchildren Philip and Scout Landin of Indiana; his companion Diane Carrier of Juneau; sister Anna Katzeek of Juneau; nephews David, James, Dennis, Rod, and Dan Katzeek of Juneau; nieces Janice Katzeek and Mary Aspinwall of Juneau; uncles Frank See, and Joe White of Hoonah; cousins Jake and Jerry White of Hoonah; and his adopted family Rudy Isturis, Roy Isturis, Janie Eldemar, and several nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle Nils,'' all of Juneau.
