Former Alaska resident Delora Karella, 93, died Jan. 30, 2004, at Stanton Health Center in
Stanton, Neb.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Norfolk, Neb. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from
3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Home for Funerals in Norfolk, and a wake service will be
at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Karella was born Oct. 29, 1910, in Madison, Neb., the daughter of James and
Margaret (Kilgore) Holt. She married Ambrose Jerome Karella on Nov. 2, 1926, in
Sioux City, Iowa.
She was employed by Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk for 15 years. In
1956, she and her husband moved to Fairbanks, where she was employed by
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for 24 years. She retired in 1980 and moved back to
Norfolk in 1982.
She was a member of Sacred Heart-Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk and a
member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Jerome "Pete" and Betty Karella of
Spring Hill, Fla.; daughters and their husbands, Florence and LeRoy Larson of
Norfolk, Marcella and Alvin Frauendorfer, Mildred and Fredrick Ridder, all of
Madison, and Sharon and Donald "Bill" Frost of Houston; sister, Marcella Long of
Madison; daughters in-law, Margie Karella of Norfolk, Rosemary Karella of
Fairbanks and Rhodi (Karella) Davidson of Willow; 48 grandchildren, 130
great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, one son in-law, one
sister, two brothers, one grandson, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren
and one great-great-granddaughter. |
