James LeRoy Huffman, Sr.

Wasilla resident James LeRoy Huffman Sr., 73, died of natural causes at home May 30, 2004.

No services will be held.

Mr. Huffman was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Rock Springs, Wyo.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He lived in Anchorage from March of 1953 before moving to Wasilla. Mr. Huffman had been a logger, roofer and welder. He retired in 1993.

His family said he was "Jack of all trades and could do them all well."

His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gold mining.

His family wrote, "He was a wonderful husband and father. He never turned his family or friends away in time of need. There was always a place at his table and in his home. He loved children and liked to tell them stories. He didn't need a book. He was a problem solver and could fix anything. He will be missed and loved by all."

Mr. Huffman is survived by his wife, Bessie Huffman; children, James LeRoy Huffman Jr. and Virginia Mae Stamper; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
