Nancy Ann Hill

Hooper Bay resident Nancy Ann Hill, 28, died April 23, 1999, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hooper Bay.

Ms. Hill was born in Anchorage on Nov. 3, 1970, the first of twin daughters to Reuben and Kathryn Hill. She graduated a valedictorian of her senior class in May 1989 and worked as a clerk in the Hill & Joe's store and the Traditional Council.

Her family said, "Nancy passed on to our heavenly Father. She was a sweet and thoughtful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She was a volunteer for many things out of the kindness of her heart. Nancy enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the subsistence life style that she grew up in. She relied upon the spirit of the tundra and will be remembered as a speedy left-handed berry picker. She enjoyed sports and academics and enjoyed playing basketball with her classmates all her life. She even nicknamed her friends in pure Eskimo humor. She will be greatly missed by everyone that she knew and remembered as a kindred spirit."

Ms. Hill is survived by her four children, Samantha Simon, Paula Hill, Arnoldine Hill and Jon Hill; parents, Reuben and Kathryn Hill Sr.; brothers, Ike, Harvey, Reuben Jr., Frank and Freddy Hill; sisters, Nora Smart, Leota Lake, Ramona Hill, Sandra Hill and Marlene Olson all of Hooper Bay, and Viola Grozier of Anchorage; and numerous nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts.

Arrangements were entrusted to Witzleben Family Funeral Homes & Crematory.
