James Calvin Benson

Longtime Kasilof resident James Calvin Benson died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. He was 66.

A gathering of friends will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, at the Decanter Inn in Kasilof to remember Mr. Benson.

He was born April 28, 1933, in Amarillo, Texas, to Charles and Edna (Brown) Benson. He served his military service in the United States Army. He moved to Alaska in 1949 and resided in Anchorage, working as a self-employed painter. He lived there for 28 years before moving to the Kasilof area where he worked as a self-employed custom home builder.

Mr. Benson is survived by his aunt, Dr. Frances Benson-Davis of Amarillo; stepdaughter Lori Johnson of El Paso, Texas; son, Rob Benson of Seattle, Wash.; and grandson, Michael Benson of Laughlin, Nev.

Arrangements were made with Peninsula Memorial Chapels.
