Evan Duane Belnap 

Longtime Homer resident, Evan Duane Belnap, 83, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, with his family by his side in Homer.

His ashes were scattered on his homestead in a private family service.

Duane was born July 30, 1920, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His Alaska residency began in 1947. Duane was a longtime Alaska resident, homesteader and one of Homer's original pioneers. Duane had worked for the Rural Electrification Association before it turned into HEA and was the past owner of Sunny Service, Homer Theater, H & D Construction, Diamond Dairy, among other businesses. He was respected and loved by his family and by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Duane will be very much missed.

Duane was preceded in death by his son, Ernie Belnap; his grandson, Buddy Baker; and his sister, Florence.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Prillhart, Melody Carroll and Fran Herber; longtime companion Marion Abeldgaard; brothers, Mac, Owen and Raymond Belnap; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arrangements were by the Homer Funeral Home.
