William "Bill" Bassney

William Bassney, 18, a Bristol Bay commercial fisherman who lived in Wasilla, died Aug. 20 at Humana Hospital Alaska from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Anchorage. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla with the Rev. Michael Warfel officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Kehl's Palmer Memorial Chapel with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Bassney was born Sept. 12, 1969, in New Hartford, N.Y., and had lived in Alaska since 1980. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.

He leaves his parents, Peter and Beth, of Wasilla; his sisters, Caroline Clabo, of Fairbanks, and Jennifer and Amy, both of Wasilla; his brother, Peter, of Wasilla; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Doris Wilson, of Corning, N.Y.; and his paternal grandparents, Bill and Edna Bassney, of Galeton, Pa.

Burial will be in Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
