Johnny Dale Asher

Long time Nome, Alaska, resident Johnny Dale Asher, 67, died on May 5, 2015, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Fort Richardson National Cemetary at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015.

Johnny was born on March 15, 1947, in Richmond, Calif. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving two combat tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1968. During subsequent years he served in the Marine Corps Reserve, U.S. Army and finally in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He married Norma Remedio on April 25, 1997, in Cebu City, Philippines. They had two sons, Emmanuel and Jamiel.

Johnny had many good friends and was a decent, friendly and kind-hearted man. Those close to him loved and trusted him. Some of his favorite hobbies were collecting old guns, old coins and old war movies.

He loved his wife and family, which he demonstrated in word and in action. He is survived by his wife, Norma Remedio Asher; and by his children, Michael, Krysta, Emmanuel and Jamiel.

Anyone wishing to can help defray funeral expenses by contributing to an account set up for that purpose at Credit Union 1, in the name of Norma Asher. Arrangements have been entrusted to Legacy Funeral Homes, Heritage Chapel at Angelus.
