CABIN BURNS ON SUNSET

Iverson and Carlson's cabin, west of Sunset creek, burned to the ground Sunday evening. They lost everything and had to go to a neighboring tent to sleep over night. They have sunk a shaft 117 feet to bedrock on the third beach line and drifted about 60 feet. The accident was a hard blow to the boys, but they will have another cabin out there shortly and resume work.

WADA COMING

James Wada, the Japanese musher who made such a name for himself in the big races of last winter, is now on his way to Nome, having left the latter place over a week ago. He should be here within two weeks, and will immediately go into training for the long distance race of the winter. He ought to be in pretty good condition now for he has come overland from Valdez, but he will have to get his feet used to the hard floor.

It is also understood that a runner is en route to Nome from Dawson and that he is an excellent long-distance man.

DESTROYED BY FIRE

The prospecting cabin of Weekman and O'Meara, located on Nome river, was burned to the ground on Sunday. It contained all of the provisions and outfit of the two men, besides adjoining the boiler house, which was also consumed.

LOOKS LIKE THIRD BEACH

W. H. Hays is within one ___ of bedrock on his ground near Jess creek, where he has been working for the last three weeks. The formation looks very good, being similar in every particular to the third beach wherever it has been picked up. The levels on adjoining ground show that it is at the same elevation as the Bessie bench, so the chances for striking something big are exceedingly good.

CLOSE TO BEDROCK

Jensen and Miller are within one thaw of bedrock on their Jess creek property. They are on the prospective third beach line, and have already located good pay in a shaft sunk 325 feet south of the present one. From it they drifted north the same distance, and now expect to drop onto their old drift. They believe that they are close to, if not directly on, the true third beach.

DRILLING

Eugene Chilberg has a drill working on his property near Jess creek. He is prospecting for the submarine beach.

IS SINKING NEW SHAFT

Andy Anderson and partners, who recently found what is believed to be the submarine streak on the Alma claim, Jess creek, are sinking a new shaft close to where they picked up the pay. The old hole is about 100 feet north of the present one, and it was while drifting south that the beach containing pay was found. Another shaft was started at once and will soon be completed.

Conrad Freeding, the popular councilman of Nome, was on last Saturday evening wedded to Miss Ida Anderson, sister of Mrs. William Larson. The wedding was one of the most elaborate ever held in Nome, and was followed by a sumptuous banquet. The rooms were beautifully decorated, everything being in harmony with the momentous occasion. The ceremony was performed by Rev. L. L. Woods and attended by the intimate friends of the contracting parties.
